MY ERAS VIDEO

For my video I chose to focus on the 30s, 50s and 90s. I wanted my video to be mostly visual so I created a look book/fashion film type vido as well as a short section with me talking about each decade.

I chose the 30s because I have always loved the old Hollywood glamour with all the sequins, slinky dresses that accentuate the curves, furs and red lips. I also really love the film stars and music artists of this time from Jean Harlow to Billie Holiday, the whole lifestyle just seemed so glamorous.

My 30s shoot was largely inspired by perfume adverts, celebrities on the red carpet today and old photographs of film stars. I wanted to create something quite moody and dark but glamorous at the same time so I went for a black and white filter and chose a slow Lana Del Rey song as I felt like her voice perfectly captured the mood of my shoot. The outfit I chose was a slinky black dress embellished with sequins, a fur draped round the shoulders and a pair of glittery heels, I feel like my choice of outfit really summed up the 30s style in one look.

The Hollywood glamour of the 30s is so timeless and classic and never goes out of style. Celebrities of today definitely take inspiration from the 30s especially in the evening gowns we see them wearing on the red carpet. The shops are filled with shiny satins, sequins and furs that all come from the style of the 30s.

I chose the 50s because I love the candy colours and big full skirts, I also love the rock n roll music from this decade and Audrey Hepburn and Marilyn Monroe are definitely some of my biggest style icons. It just looked like a fun decade especially for teenagers with the fast food diners and jukeboxes.
