Developing an interest

In establishing a local chapter of the JCL, it is important that one has a strong foundation that powers the goals and motivations of the club. Thus, it is important to identify why there is a need for a JCL in one’s community as well as recognizing the benefits of JCL.

Various JCL’s have various reasons for their establishments, and some are not even established as purely Latin Clubs! Lanier High School from Suwanee attended their first Fall Forum this past fall as a Mythology Club for their respective school as they believed there was a need for a club that allowed students to further pursue their interest in classical Mythology. Below is a list of reasons of why JCL could be needed in a community, or why one would feel empowered to start a JCL.

1. “I love Latin, and I want to be able to pursue it outside of the classroom”

2. “ I really love ancient history, and I wanted to be able to do something with that love”

3. “I want to share my love for Latin with friends and really incorporate it into my school community.”

4. “I believe I could incorporate my passion for the Classics with my desire to get involved and better my community.”

5. “Latin class is my favorite part of the day, and I really want to continue that part of the day.”

6. “All that was said, and more”
