MARSHALLTOWN is one of the world’s largest manufacturers
and distributors of construction tools. Its products are known as the
best in the business and are used for working with brick, concrete,
drywall, asphalt, flooring, paint, plaster, stucco, tile and wallpaper.
Marshalltown needs people who have the skills to make its
products and ship them to customers around the world.
Robert O’Connell is the director of engineering at the Fayetteville
plant. He says the company always needs people who can keep
the machines used to make its products up and find ways to
improve the production process.

“We are constantly working to make things better, and that means
change,” O’Connell says. “We are changing so we can keep
improving.”
Big parts of that process are the company’s engineers and
industrial maintenance team. “Industrial maintenance skills are
extremely valuable,” O’Connell explains. “Maintenance has to
troubleshoot and understand how the equipment works to fix the
problem.”
O’Connell says a mechanical background is preferred for those
careers, but they’re willing to train the right person.
