Weather Modification
Weather modification refers to actions whereby the intentional manipulation or
altering of the weather is undertaken. In cloud seeding as an example, via the use
of silver iodide, clouds are made heavier than the original cloud to force water or
snow out of the cloud for the purpose of increasing water supply. In is not yet as-
certained whether such modification used under different circumstances can be
used to prevent such as hurricanes, from occurring. In China, state-owned Aero-
space Science and Technology Corporation is progressing a plan to send thousands of rain-inducing machines across the Ti-
betan Plateau and mountains to increase rainfall along the region. “These machines will produce very fine silver iodide
particles that are then lifted into the atmosphere with upwelling winds. As these parti-
cles are dispersed into the atmosphere they act as the nucleating point of condensed
water.” The goal is to increase China's annual water consumption by 7%.
The related technology is not new though, as in the early 1990’s The High-Frequency Active
Auroral Research Program (HAARP) was created as part of an ionospheric research pro-
gram jointly funded by the U.S. Air Force, the
U.S. Navy, the University of Alaska Fairbanks, and the Defense Advanced Re-
search Projects Agency (DARPA). The objective of which was to pioneer experi-
ments in the ionospheric phenomena. But also it is implied that cloud seeding op-
erations during the Vietnam
War was in use in an attempt to
extend the monsoon season.
Currently Weather modifica-
tion in warfare has been banned by the United Nations.
