Sharing Influence and Affection
In the recent Panama sailing, despite it being their day off, a small group of Logos Hope’s crew decided to visit an orphan-
age. Having been permitted by the director to speak to the young people, the ship’s volunteers came prepared with a pro-
gramme to spend time and show love as a blessing to those at the centre. “Getting their attention was not easy,” said Wan Li
Haw (East Asia Pacific). The tone changed once Christa Shipman (USA) started explaining the gospel through her own life
story. Christa explained that she comes from a large
family, which means that sometimes she feels as
though she has been forgotten. She also explained
that this sometimes meant not being able to afford
to buy things she wanted. In order to spend more
quality time with the kids, the team divided into
smaller groups for more personal discussion. When
it was time to leave “they didn’t want us to go, and
were asking when we would come back.” The
crewmembers were joyful for being able to share
love and hope to children and teenagers in such
need of affection and good influences.
