PRIVILEGE STANDARDS :
• Practitioners who provide a “ medical level of care ” must be credentialed and privileged through the Medical Staff process . These services are “ traditionally ” provided by providers , with skills and tasks that are routinely performed by providers , including diagnosing , admitting , managing , treating , or discharging patients .
• In 2012 , the CMS broadened the concept of “ Medical Staff ” to include other providers eligible for hospital privileges , in accordance with and within their scope of practice , per state laws -this may include PAs and APRNs and other types of APPs .
