Charlotte Walker + Me vs . Me : A Self-Care Journey to Help Cope with Depression The mental health of college students has been on a steady decline since 2013 ( Lipson et al ., 2022 ). This presentation will share research on the impact that depression , specifically , has on the lives of college students . Increased risk related to student demographic factors will also be considered . Discussion will focus on the experience of a personal self-care intervention to help lessen the severity of symptoms caused by depression .
Alyssa Yiaski + No One Is Too Old for a Home : Advocating for Teens Who “ Age Out ” of Foster Care Each year , over 1,000 children “ age out ” of the foster care system in Pennsylvania alone ( psrfa . org ). This presentation will focus on issues and advocacy for teenagers in this high-risk situation . Research on the needs of these teens will be shared , along with information on local agencies who serve this population . Discussion will include reflection on my own collaboration with local agencies to advocate for teens aging out of the foster care system . The importance of raising public awareness and understanding of the challenges these teens face will be highlighted , along with opportunities to help .

The financial problems with Minor League Baseball are unfair and unfit for players to make a living playing the sport they have dedicated their lives to . Minor League Baseball is one of the largest systems in American sports . The Minor Leagues are not financially stable for 81 % of players to earn a livable salary . Players are forced to find additional outside work to make ends meet . The average income of a minor league baseball player is around $ 14,500 and the livable annual income is $ 36,311 . This research addresses the disparity of how the Minor League system isn ’ t paying their players enough .
Shylynn Cordero , Reece Salas , and Grace Scally + College Athletics : Financials and Debt College athletics have a common epidemic of generating less revenue than expenses . Many college athletics departments have been in debt for many years without a foreseeable future of leaving the “ red ” and entering profitability . This research focuses on why college athletics expenses exceed yearly revenue and how college athletics revenue and expenses differ among all divisions . Examining revenue and expenses is essential because no school should be spending an immense amount of money when they are not generating revenue . This research is designed to find means to improve programs ’ revenue and eliminate the loss of profit through college athletics .
