Christian Rice + Workplace Contentedness and Employee Retention Intention This research study will examine the correlation between self-reported levels of contentedness and intentions to maintain employment among part-time and full-time employees . It is anticipated that participants who feel contented and engaged at work will have intentions to stay employed . Additional motivations for retention will also be examined to see if they impact participants decisions . Participants will discuss their happiness at work , their feelings about their environment , and their intended level of retention at their job to determine what relationship these share .
Roma Rodriguez Compassion in Healthcare Compassion is “ a virtuous and intentional response to know a person to discern their needs and help their suffering through relational understanding and action ” ( Sinclair et al ., 2018 ). Healthcare providers and patients feel that a compassionate connection can be established through demeanor , quality of care , intention , and presence within even short interactions ( Malenfant et al ., 2022 ). This presentation will explore compassion in the healthcare field , including reflections from current healthcare workers . Discussion will focus on the importance of compassion , why some individuals feel more / less compassion than others and if compassion can be learned . Araceli Trejo + How Media Portrays Serial Killers through American Psycho This presentation will focus on how society tends to glamorize serial killers as opposed to condemning them , as evidenced in the novel American Psycho and real-life occurrences . Discussion will examine how the portrayal of violent acts by news outlets , social media , and other entertainment platforms can lead to obsession in the form of fandoms . As a consequence , there is often more focus on the perpetrator than the victims and others that have been affected . The effect of race , gender , appearance , and socioeconomic status on perception of violent criminals will also be explored .
Jenna Vince + Interventions for Suicide Prevention in School School is an important setting for establishing mental health and suicide prevention guidelines amongst our youth . This presentation will share findings from academic and personal exploration on the topic of suicide in adolescents . The goal is to examine interventions that can be used within schools to create a positive and inclusive environment that mitigates the risk for suicide . Results of a video project designed to share affirming messages with middle school youth will also be shared .
