Khushi Desai + Navigating Careers Serving Children with Physical or Intellectual Disabilities This presentation will share findings from interviews conducted with experts who work in fields serving children and adolescents with physical and / or intellectual disabilities . Focus will be on the experience of having a career dedicated to the growth and well-being of children and adolescents with disabilities . Discussion will reflect on factors that lead someone to choose to work in this field and the joys and challenges of this type of work .
Khushi Desai and Roji John + Relationship Between Parenting Styles and Emotional Intelligence The present study will examine if there is a correlation between received parenting style and emotional intelligence among college students . We will also seek to explore whether this relationship is different for participants based on demographic characteristics ( such as gender or race ). Based on past literature , we suspect the two will be related . We will be distributing surveys to Gwynedd Mercy University students in classrooms and circulating them on social media with a goal of getting data from approximately 200 participants .
Madison Fair Yoga ’ s Impact on One ’ s Mental Health A variety of yoga practices have been identified as beneficial to mental , spiritual , and physical health . This presentation will explore the effects of yoga and breathing exercises on psychological well-being . In addition to sharing findings from prior research , I will share the impact of integrating these practices into my own daily life over the course of two months . I will also discuss my experience sharing and practicing yoga with others interested in developing their practice . Discussion will focus on how becoming familiar with yoga and breathing techniques can impact psychological well-being and strategies to implement these practices into everyday life .
Kaylee Gonzalez + Can Mindfulness Impact a Person ’ s Physical and Mental Health ? Mindfulness is shown to reduce levels of anxiety and depression by more than 50 percent . College students experience a variety of mental health challenges . This presentation is both an academic and personal exploration of how mindfulness can impact mental health . Through individual intervention , weekly mindfulness activities will be incorporated into daily life . With discussion and a video diary , I will explore how a mindfulness lifestyle can positively or negatively impact my overall well-being .
