Isaac Marshall * Artificial Intelligence and Video Games This research will explore how artificial intelligence ( AI ) is integrated into video games . Discussed will be non-player characters ( NPCs ) and how responses from players create realistic interactive video game experiences . Also examined is if the data used to train NPCs comes exclusively from the players or from other data sources such as the game developer . After exploring the logic behind AI and gaming , the future of these technologies will be discussed .
Christopher McAnally and Jonathan Walsh + Digital Forensics : 3D Printed Ghost Guns Ghost guns refer to firearms built from kits or made with 3D printers . Because they do not have a serial number or other markings as required by law , these types of firearms can be sold and assembled without background checks . Ghost guns are attractive to individuals seeking to evade law enforcement . Without a traceable serial number , these firearms pose a threat to public safety . The number of ghost guns used to commit serious crimes has more than doubled over the past several years . This research explores 3D printed guns and methodologies digital forensic examiners may employ to trace them .
Shannon McLaughlin * Sports Management and Artificial Intelligence
Artificial intelligence is being increasingly used in sports . Coaches can use artificial intelligence ( AI ) to find out information about an opponent not previously known . Using algorithms , video recordings from past sports events can determine the best sequence of moves to win . This information can help with scouting for a team or even to win a NASCAR race . AI is even being used in NASCAR to spot problems on the track before the driver . This talk will discuss some of the many ways AI is being used in sports and how it will impact athletes and competitions in the future .
Mark Meade * Neural Networks
Artificial Neural Networks ( ANNs ) have been driving forward the field of AI for years now . These networks try to emulate the human brain to develop self-learning patterns that enable ANNs to learn from data as humans do . These deep neural networks have a history going back to 1956 and are revolutionizing how we interact with technology . This project will delve into the history of artificial intelligence ’ s greatest asset , how these networks function , and how to train basic datasets . Following this , a neural network will be created and demonstrated to provide a visual of what artificial intelligence learns .
