Ramona Werst wanted to make backyard
gardening easier for people. After all, the idea
of creating an edible garden all on your own
can be intimidating if you’re just getting
started.
So Ramona identified the necessary garden
starter tools and created a 3-piece set of tools
whole, natural foods. While still tending to her
day job, she founded Paleo Baking Company in
2012 with the dream of sharing her delicious
mixes with the rest of the world.
In 2014, Collins Paris took over the company
and moved the operations to Seattle, Washington. He knew they needed a new brand and a
fresh look for the company. That's when they
turned to 99designs for a logo to use in their
branding and their packaging. With the logo in
place, Paleo was able to start selling their
products online and in select stores. But their
experience with 99designs didn’t stop there.
They received such good feedback on the logo
that Collins ran a packaging contest shortly
after, giving Paleo the signature look they’re
now known for. We’d give up Hot Cheetos for
them, wouldn’t you?
for the gardening beginner. Voilà —you’ve got
the Backyard Genie!
Not only did Ramona use 99designs to create
her logo and cute genie mascot, but she
finalized packaging for the garden set too.
Then, on the heels of her successful product
launch, Ramona started the Backyard Genie
blog to continue helping those in need with all
their gardening queries. Wait — there’s more!
Ramona even branched into kitchen tools
(Kitchen Genie) and created a 3rd contest for
product packaging a year later! Judging from
the number of contests and 1:1 projects she’s
already run, we bet we’ll be seeing more of
Ramona in the future…
