TECHNOLOGY 9-3
Tests carried out on the bionic
eye
A new implementation project called Bionic eye, which was developed in a hospital in Oxford in the United Kingdom, helped Chris James to see again after 20 years. He had been affected by a disease named retinitis pigmentosa that alters the retina, leaving him blind.
During the surgery, the doctors implanted Chris with a microchip similar to that used for a cell phone’s camera. This allows the eye to receive light by electric impulses that the brain transforms into images.
Thanks to the new technology that is implementing the hospital in oxford, in the united kingdom, to been able to help human health in mainly to the vision.
