Conference Training Institutes
THURSDAY, MARCH 12, 2020
7:30 am – 2:00 pm GA01 – Graduate Advisors’ Training Institute – Level I
This training institute is for candidates for Graduate Advisor, Graduate Advisory Council members,
sorors in chapter leadership positions who have never been certified, and sorors who have allowed
their certification to expire. You must pre-register for this session and meet the guidelines for
admission to this class.
There will be no onsite registration for this training.
7:30 am – 12:00 pm GA02 – Graduate Advisors’ Training Institute – Level II
This training institute is for candidates for Graduate Advisor and Graduate Advisory Council
members and sorors in chapter leadership positions who are seeking re-certification. You must
pre-register for this session and meet the guidelines for admission to this class. There will be no
onsite registration for this training.
7:30 am – 12:00 pm TH01 – Leadership Training Institute
This interactive training program is for seasoned leaders and aspiring future leaders that will focus
on topics in the areas of leadership styles, communication styles, chapter operations, meeting
management, financial operations, protocol and other aspects of sorority leadership.
8:00 am – 2:00 pm TH02 – Financial Officers’ Certification
The Financial Officers’ Certification Training will be offered to current and aspiring
Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority chapter financial officers. This one-day, interactive, hands-on
certification is designed to assist the graduate chapter Tamiouchos and Pecunious Grammateus in
executing their operational responsibilities. Sorors will be trained in the proper implementation of
financial procedures as outlined in the Fiscal Fitness Guide and referenced in several other sorority
documents. A creative, learning approach will be used to enhance the core competencies of
certification participants. Sorors who successfully complete this training will earn the designation
of Certified Chapter Financial Officer.
2:30 pm – 3:30 pm TH03 – Regional Conference Briefing for First-Time Attendees
This workshop is intended for newly initiated, reactivated, and first-time conference attendees.
A welcome from the Regional Director and other conference leadership will kick off a session of tips
for positioning yourself to grow in knowledge, to expand your network of sorors, and to seek
opportunities to serve.
2:30 pm – 4:00 pm TH04– Basilei Chat
Chapter leaders share common concerns and tips to enhance Chapter Operations. This forum is a
must attend for all graduate and undergraduate Chapter Basilei. It will also give current Chapter
Basilei the opportunity to dialogue with our Regional Director and fellow Basilei.
2:30 am – 4:30 pm TH05 – Graduate Advisors’ Chat
Graduate Advisors’ will have the opportunity to share common concerns and tips as it relates to
working with our undergraduate sorors.
3:30 am – 4:30 pm TH06 – Constitution Forum
This forum will review proposed amendments to the sorority’s constitution and bylaws that will be
voted on at the 2020 Boule. Sorors will have the opportunity to ask questions and gain clarity
regarding all proposed changes.
TH07 – Budget Forum
The forum addresses the 2021 and 2022 budgets planned for presentation at the 2020 Boule,
chapter financial operations, chapter obligations pertaining to the chapter income tax payment
process and any other financial questions. Sorors will allow members an opportunity to ask
financial questions.
