Why is Generational Justice so Important in times of
Environmental Protection and Pandemic?
Intergenerational justice means a fair and just
relationship between the generations. Burdens,
duties and resources should be equally
distributed between the generations. Depending
on which generational concept is applied, it is a
temporal or intertemporal understanding of
generational justice.

With temporal intergenerational justice we
assume that at least three generations live
together at any given time
the young (0-30 years), the middle-aged (30-60
years) and the old generation (older than 60
years). Pension policy is discussed, for example,
against the background of temporal generational
justice, for example, when it comes to
increasing pensions or pension contributions:
Then it is asked whether one generation is
unilaterally preferred or disadvantaged.
In the area of youth participation, too, a fair
relationship between young and old is sought.
Here it is above all a matter of a fair distribution
of administrative access to decisions and
decision-making powers.
