Borough Mayor and City Councillors’ office 5160 Décarie, Suite 710 Montréal (Québec) H3X 2H9 Tel. : 514-872-4863 / Fax : 514-868-3327 January 31, 2019 A Message from City Councillor Marvin Rotrand Warm Congratulations to Canadian Pinoy Radio Montreal on its 6th Anniversary Dear Friends, Allow me to note the occasion of the 6th anniversary of the founding of CPRM, Canadian Pinoy Radio Montreal, as it continues its important work as the voice of our city's growing Filipino community. Since its founding in 2013 CPRM has shared the vibrancy of Montreal’s Filipino community with the world. CPRM continues to provide its listeners with high quality entertainment reflecting the rich and varied culture of the Philippines coupled with in-depth news reporting. CPRM broadcasts in Tagalog, Cebuano, Ilocano and English, thus meeting the needs of listeners from all the different regions of the Philippines. The station’s diverse playlist appeals to those who seek traditional Filipino music as well as those looking for more modern renditions. As I have observed in past years, Côte-des-Neiges ─ Notre-Dame-de-Grâce Borough is the epicentre of the Filipino community in Quebec. Our Borough Council deals with issues vital to Filipino organizations throughout the city. CPRM reports on the Council’s work and brings the important debates at City Hall to its local audience giving listeners insight to new policies and bylaws that affect the well being of all Montrealers. The station can take pride in its extensive on-going coverage of municipal issues that rank the station as a media leader in our city when it comes to in-depth local coverage. I look forward to continuing to work with CPRM’s dedicated team that so reliably covers community news. 2019 will be an important year for the Filipino community in our city. The Borough has committed to a ceremony to official give the name Place Jose Rizal in the area surrounding the monument in Mackenzie King Park. This June will be the first ever Filipino Heritage Month in Canada. I am certain that CPRM will play an important role in alerting the community to these events and to reporting what is said and done as these historic occasions are celebrated. CPRM history as a vital portal of information to the community points to an auspicious future. CPRM has established itself as a key institution serving Filipinos in Montreal and abroad, linking the Philippines with the Filipino diaspora in our city. Whether it is for hard news, community affairs or entertainment, listeners tune in to CPRM. I look forward to your continued growth in 2019 and much appreciate the team's dedication and professionalism. Yours truly, Marvin Rotrand City Councillor – Snowdon
