By: AJ Sepulveda Did you know that King Tut was not actually buried in a pyramid? King Tut was famous because nobody ever knew the truth about him such as how he died and who his family members actually were. The important details about King Tut were his tomb, life, and Lord Carnarvon. People died after going near the tomb and became a gigantic mystery. Was King Tut’s curse the truth or a myth? Well if you want to know then read this and find out. Surprisingly, King Tut’s tomb was not in a pyramid like the other pharaohs. A pharaoh is title of the kings. The tomb was actually buried underneath the sand in Egypt. The strange thing was that Howard Carter who found the tomb saw a mysterious clay tablet with hieroglyphics. The author Michael Burgan writes that the tomb said, “Death shall come on swift wings to him who touches the tomb of the pharaoh.” Also people that were on the expedition to find King Tut’s tomb saw animals, statues, gold, weapons, furniture, musical instruments, and guards by his tomb. People also believed that some of the objects were there to protect King Tut. Suddenly, people began to die after coming near the tomb. For example, Lord Carnarvon the person who was a part of the expedition to find King Tut’s tomb died after getting bit by a mosquito. According to The curse of Tutankhamen, “Richard Bethell the assistant to Howard Carter died and his father, Lord Westbury, believed it was because of the curse of the pharaoh and Lord Westbury later committed suicide.’’ People also believed Carnarvon died because of the curse. King Tut was the only royal burial in the Valley of the Kings that could not be touched. The other kings in the valley got angry and jealous that they didn’t have the abilities that King Tut had. But the real mystery was how King Tut actually died. Well nobody ever really knew whether he died because of a chariot accident or if he got murdered. King Tut made history while being the king of Ancient Egypt. He first started ruling Ancient Egypt at the age of nine years old. Some people believed that King Tut may have been a noble blood or a commoner. A noble blood means that his family members or his ancestors were royal. A commoner means that you do not have a noble rank or a title to make you royal. King Tut’s full name was Tutankhamen and Queen Tiya was King Tut’s grandmother. Also, both of King Tut’s daughters were buried along with King Tut. There was also a mystery about if Akhenten was his father. Akhenten was a pharaoh of Egypt for 17 years.
