Leeds Rhinos 32-31 Catalan Dragons
Catalan Dragons got off the best possible start at Headingley Carnegie on Sunday, as Leon Pryce sent fullback Morgan Escare over the line from his pass. Sam Williams converted Morgan Escare try to give the Catalan Dragons an early six point lead.
The Rhinos bounced back through Ben Jones-Bishop, as the full back picked up Sam Williams grubber kick and sprinted 85 minutes, Liam Sutcliffe missed the touchline conversion.
Leeds almost took the lead though Tom Briscoe but he was unable to hold onto Liam Sutcliffe high kick. Catalan Dragons scored two tries in nine minutes, the first one coming from Zeb Taia, which Sam Williams sent up to allow Zeb Taia to score and the second one coming from Eloi Pelissier scoring over the line, once again Sam Willams also setting up this try.
Leeds Rhinos pulled a try back a young Josh Walters took a short pass from prop Jamie Peacock. This time Liam Sutcliffe added the two points with just four minutes to go until half time.
Three minutes into the second half and Catalan Dragons were in again through Zeb Taia. Catalan Dragons were on their way to securing their first win at Headingley but the Rhinos pulled two tries back in nine minutes, the first coming from Joel Moon and the second coming from Carl Ablett.
Leeds Rhinos were in again and it was helped by Leon Pryce as his long pass was intercepted by Joel Moon who scored. Sutcliffe added the conversion giving the Rhinos a six point lead. Catalan did pull one back though Millard and Sam Williams converted. The game was tied and Escare’s drop goal gave Catalan Dragons a one point lead. On the hooter Leeds were awarded a penalty 30 meters out and Liam Sutcliffe sent the ball over the sticks to win the game for the Rhinos.
