STEP 3 :
Now your idea is clear , decide on the structure and
rhyme scheme . Plan how many stanzas ( verses ) you ’ ll |
have and what the rhyme scheme will be . Will you have |
alternating rhyming lines – ABAB ? Or will the first and |
last line of your stanza rhyme ( ABCA )? You could always |
take inspiration from William Shakespeare , and use |
rhyming couplets – AABB ! Of course , it doesn ’ t have to |
rhyme at all – you can just freestyle ! |
STEP 4 :
Now it ’ s time to dig into your vocabulary . Pluck out some
amazing adjectives and moody metaphors to really |
bring this idea to life . Consider the tone of the piece and |
how you want your reader to feel when they read it . |
STEP 5 :
Read through your finished poem – read it aloud so you
can get a proper sense of the rhythm . Edit the poem |
as necessary and astound your audience with your |
splendid skills ! |
