OWLS If you fell in love with snowies on pages 14-15 of our Winter Wild issue , then why not have a go at writing some poetry about them !

WORDWORM ’ S MISSION

When you read our article on snowy owls – what did you find most fascinating about them ? Was it the stealth-like way they hunt ? Was it picturing them soaring silently over their vast , freezing habitat ? Was it those adorable fluffy slipper feet ?! I love snowy owls so much , I could write about them all day long ! snowy owls so much he could write about them all day long ! Now , it ’ s your turn ! Let ’ s have a go at some poetry writing !

GET STARTED

STEP 1 :
Plan what you want to say . You could refer to the article in our Winter Wild issue for inspiration , or you could gaze adoringly at the photo on this activity sheet – or both ! Jot down your thoughts and any lovely phrases that come to mind .
STEP 2 :
Next , arrange your notes into an order that makes sense . A narrative
poem tells a story with a beginning , middle and end . Will yours follow the intrepid owl catching a poor lemming ? Will it observe the snowy owl preparing to leave the Arctic tundra ? Is there a message you ’ d like to communicate – perhaps your poem will be about how few snowy owls there are left in the wild , and what we can do to help ensure their survival ? Or perhaps it ’ s simply a tribute to our feathered friends ? The choice is yours !
