Kayla Weir’s 8th grade English class is studying Meridian area current events prior to reading The Outsiders. As everyone is aware, crime statistics in Meridian have increased in recent years. Mrs. Weir’s
students are having surveys completed regarding local crime in an effort to show how socioeconomic levels increase/decrease crime levels.

Principal
Clarkdale welcomes former high school counselor
Dr. Angie McHenry as the new middle school principal. Dr. McHenry has worked in the field of education for 27 years as a classroom teacher, an elementary counselor, a high school counselor and as an administrator. Dr. McHenry’s time in the classroom
was spent in the middle school, so she feels like this
new position has brought her home. McHenry said,
“I’m excited about working with Clarkdale students,
and the middle school teachers are an extraordinary
bunch of people.” When asked to describe Clarkdale
in one word, Dr. McHenry, without hesitation replied, “Eutopia”. Sounds like it will be a great
school year! Dr. McHenry has been at Clarkdale for
six years.
