While many in the community are excited about the Christmas season, some families find this a difficult time when funds for Christmas gifts are not available. Mrs. Robbi Cooper, counselor at Southeast Middle School, realized the need in our community and created the Southeast Christmas Kid project. Mrs. Cooper asks teachers and staff to nominate students and their families for the Christmas project. The staff, community members, local churches, and
parents come together to adopt students. This year there have been
46 students adopted for the Christmas holidays. Our Southeast Middle School cheerleaders and their sponsor, Jessica Johnson, saw
the Christmas project as an opportunity to give back. The cheerleaders sponsored and organized a Christmas dance where the cost
to enter was $5 or a toy. The cheerleaders raised over $1000 for the
Christmas project. We are proud of our students, staff, and leaders
for giving back to the community we all love and care about.
