Officer!Marissa!Combs!along!with!Sheriff!Billy!Sollie,!Deputy!Andy!Matuszewski,!and! Daren!the!DARE!mascot!were!on!hand!Friday,!December!6th,!to!present!graduation!certificates! to!6th!graders!who!participated!in!the!DARE!program.!!To!be!eligible!for!graduation,!students! had!to!write!essays!based!on!their!experiences!during!the!DARE!classes.!!!Sixth!graders! Katherine!Lollis,!Sharon!Pech,!Amber!Fant,!Emma!Miller,!Brookley!Boles!and!Ean!Fisher!were! selected!as!winners!of!the!essay!contest.!!Sheriff!Sollie!spoke!to!students!about!his!background! as!the!first!DARE!officer!in!MS;!he!participated!in!this!training!29!years!ago.!!Deputy!Andy! Matuszewski,!a!Clarkdale!graduate,!spoke!of!his!belief!in!the!importance!of!DARE!instruction!as! he!now!has!a!grandchild!attending!school.!!He!said,!“If!just!one!child!says!no!to!drugs!because!of! this!program,!it!is!all!worth!it.”!!Middle!school!principal!Dr.!Angie!McHenry,!Superintendent! Hodges,!Mr.!Ed!Mosley,!Fredie!Carmichael!and!Kyle!Rutledge!were!also!present!for!the! graduation!ceremony.!!!
