Reiki, The Healing Hands...
People also have different ways of experiencing Reiki. Some report feeling the physical sensations of
tingling, warmth, coolness, throbbing, or nothing at all. Others feel a deep sense of peace, relaxation,
and wellbeing, while some feel energized. Others have reported feeling like they’ve left their bodies, and
journeyed to another place and time. It is an individual experience.
Additionally, many Reiki recipients report feeling relief from pain. Reiki healing is “intelligent,” in that
it knows where to go to restore balance. So someone may seek out this type of healing to address one
particular ailment, and find that something else is taken care of. Reiki also helps us to release toxins that
have been built up. In the Oct/Nov 2007 edition of Heart & Soul Magazine, my friend Tamara Holmes
interviewed a number of Reiki practitioners, including myself, for her article, Getting to the Root of
Reiki: The Art of Healing Through Divine Energy. She noted that recipients of Reiki may experience
skin outbreaks, sneezing, and frequent trips to the bathroom shortly after a session. I know others who
have had runny noses and other cold-like symptoms. This holds true for Reiki practitioners as well,
because one of the beautiful qualities of healing with
Reiki is that when we “give,” we also receive, since
the energy flows through us as well. Therefore it is
important that those facilitating and receiving Reiki
drink plenty of water after the process to aid in the
release of toxins.
So are you ready for Reiki? Many people perceive
these days as challenging times, and the universe has
provided us with many tools for coping and healing.
Reiki is one such tool, and is accessible for us all. To
find a certified Reiki practitioner near you, check
holistic directories, natural wellness centers, and
massage schools.
