Feriole Island Park , right on the Mississippi River and nestled between jagged cliffs and green hills untouched by the Ice Age . Once you get that cold drink in your hand , great tunes in your ear , and good , friendly people all around , you ’ ll realize you ’ re at one of the most beautiful venues anywhere . blues to West Coast jump , hard-driving Mississippi hill country blues , New Orleans horns , and Texas boogie , zydeco , gospel , blues rock — Prarie Dog Blues Fest has it all !
The 2024 Blues Fest lineup is hot ! Thursday , July 25 , brings the PDBF Kick- Off Party with free admission featuring the Kris Lager Band at the beer tent stage ( and again on Friday ). Then , on Friday , July 26 , the lineup features Mud Morganfield ( Muddy Water ’ s son ), Albert Castiglia , and Wayne Baker Brooks . Saturday , July 27 , brings the Stefan Geisinger Band , Alastair Greene , Big Ray & Chicago ’ s Most Wanted , Parker Barrow , and Eric Johanson with Terry Quiett in the beer tent .
Bring a comfortable chair , and if you decide you don ’ t want to move , the famous Prairie Dog Beer Girls will come right to you in the crowd
to get you your refills ! Of course , if you don ’ t move at all , you ’ ll miss the great bands on the beer tent stage .
Traveling from Dubuque , you ’ ll love to know that there is on-site camping , and shuttles run to all hotels in town . Food and drinks along with campfires are allowed in the campgrounds , and its an easy walk in and out of the music grounds . It doesn ’ t get any more convenient than that ! Inside the music grounds , there are plenty of food and drinks from barbecue and Asian to American and Italian . There is a huge beer tent that has its own stage , and there are options ranging from non-alcohol drinks to wine to large brewery beers to a nice selection of craft draft beers . Other vendors on site offer jewelry , clothing , and other handmade items such as blown glass made by a glass blower on site . Downtown is an easy two-block walk off the island where you can find many pubs and restaurants also featuring live music this weekend .
Advanced tickets are $ 45 for one day or $ 80 for two-days . Gate pricing is $ 50 and $ 90 . Children 12 and under are free . Two day camping for up to four people is just $ 100 or $ 110 at the gate with additional options for sites with 20 , 30 , and 50 amp power . Backbone Bluegrass Festival

FRIDAY , JULY 26 @ 4 – 10:45 PM SATURDAY , JULY 27 @ 1 – 10:45 PM SUNDAY , JULY 28 @ 9:30 AM – 2:40 PM 1356 110 TH ST , STRAWBERRY POINT , IA The Backbone Bluegrass Festival is celebrating its 43 rd annual year on July 26 – 28 as one of the longest running bluegrass , folk , gospel , and acoustic music festivals in the Midwest . It is more than a concert ; it is truly a festival that lasts for six days ( we ’ ll explain why in just a bit ). The festival grounds are located southeast of Strawberry Point , IA , 2 miles off HWY 3 on W-69 / Dundee Road . Stage shows begin at 4 p . m . on Friday ,
11 a . m . on Saturday morning and 6 p . m . that night , and 9:30 a . m . on Sunday .
The performers booked for the 2024 Backbone Bluegrass Festival include Grammy award nominees Donna Ulisse , Rick Stanley , Jerry Salley , and Special Consensus . The Rick Faris Band was IBMA New Entertainer of the Year and is a millennial generation favorite . The remaining lineup is made up of top regional and local bands .
See stage shows with professional musicians and open stage performances where amateurs get an opportunity to perform . There is a three-day music camp and songwriters ’ workshop plus featured workshops for guitar , banjo , fiddle , mandolin , and bass as well as harmony singing and instrument repair . There are scavenger hunts for the children , meet and greet artists autograph sessions , and campfire jams throughout the day and the night .
Organizers take pride in the fact that their festival is an affordable , diverse , family-friendly , and handicappedaccessible event held in the picturesque setting of northeast Iowa on a 20-acre timber site that has been developed to include camping sites , a permanent stage , shower houses , and kitchen .
You might say it ’ s a six-day festival as music really starts Tuesday , July 23 , evening with a free concert held at Inger Park . The concert is sponsored by the Wilder Museum and features the Anderegg Family Band . After the concert , there are informal jam sessions at the Franklin Hotel with their annual “ Wings and Strings .” Wednesday evening there is another free concert featuring Donna Ulisse , Rick Stanley , and Jerry Salley , three Grammy award winning singer-songwriters at JAKE & Company . Thursday evening , the same three singer-songwriters will hold a concert at embers . After the free concerts , there are pick-up jam sessions at various locations in Strawberry Point and at the bluegrass grounds . Then the weekend festival gets rolling on Friday , July 26 .
