Finally , Layla Cataldo is joining the tour this year to share her beautiful voice and guitar skills . Mud Lake Bluegrass Sundays

SUNDAYS : JULY 21 , AUGUST 4 , AND AUGUST 18 @ NOON – 6 PM MUD LAKE PARK ( 22312 GOLF LAKE RD ) The Mud Lake Music Society in partnership with the Friends of Dubuque County Conservation announce the return of the Mud Lake Bluegrass Sundays series . Promoted by The Dubuque County Conservation Board , this popular event began as an effort to bring bluegrass music to an outdoor setting by the Mississippi River at Mud Lake Park . Check out this year ’ s events on July 21 , Aug . 4 , and Aug . 18 .
With a focus on audience involvement , each event kicks off with the Pickers Pick-nic starting at noon and going until 2 p . m . It ’ s the perfect setting to meet and play with other aspiring pickers . Guest instructors help with tuning , answer questions , and then organize the jam sessions . Then at 2 p . m ., the main stage fires up with a regional opening act followed by a national touring act at 3:30 p . m ., entertaining until approximately 6 p . m . Asking attendees only for freewill donations , the society ’ s goal is to raise enough money to cover costs and retain a small fund to continue Mud Lake Bluegrass Sundays the next year . Camping spaces are available at Mud Lake Park , along with food concessions and special Mud Lake Bluegrass souvenirs ( shirts , instrument , and raffles ). Greg Garing w / The Mutual Admiration Society Greg Garing , former fiddler for Jimmy Martin and a revered singer and performer in the second-wave bluegrass cannon , will head up this group on Sunday , Aug . 4 . Greg will be joined by former area family band members Frank and Lillie Mae Rische , driving up to entertain us from their new home of Nashville , TN . They have played the Mud Lake festival multiple times as Jypsy , Silk and Saddle , the Carters , and most recently The Rische Family Band . Rounding out this group will be Nashville cats Craig Smith and bass player Mark Edelstein holding down the groove .
Opening the show will be The Mutual Admiration Society , a grouping of multiple pickers and singers doing some of their own stuff and a mixture of traditional musical favorites .
