Above: progress from a basic idea to a more finely-tuned cover
on social media stars for my icon and decided Cian
Twomey, a well-known Facebook video maker, fitted the bill.
Originally I saw the image on the cover as a photograph
but came across a fantastic piece of fan art that better suited
a magazine aiming to divert from the norms. I originally
took inspiration from Rolling Stone for my heading font,
eventually choosing to be more original and consistent
with a font better suited in all elements of the cover.
As you can see my designs developed immensely over the
weeks and I tried so many combinations, often simply as a
way to rule them out. I felt in the end that with its bright
and busy background, eye-catching illustration and bold red
heading, Trending finally represented the brand I intended.
