33 YEARS @ CTSS: KEY MILESTONES IN CHARACTER AND LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT FOR CLEMENTEENS

1980 • Clementi Town Secondary School began operating on 2 January with 12 classes of Secondary One students
• School vision, mission, motto and core values were drawn up 1983 • The first batch of 191 students sat for the GCE O-Levels 1987 • The term‘ Class Parent’ was introduced for‘ Form Teacher’ to symbolise the important role Form Teachers play to our students 1988 • The school was one of the 12 pilot schools for Pastoral Care and Career Guidance
• Implementation of residential Level Camps for all Clementeens 1990 • Pilot school for SMART Classroom Project
• The Pupil Centre, a place for Clementeens to interact and study in the afternoon, was set up 1993 • Peer Support Programme, a buddy system, was implemented 1995 • Pilot school for the Student-Teacher Workbench Project 1997 • Selected to be one of the ten IT Masterplan Technology Schools
• Infusion of National Education into formal curriculum 1998 • First IT Open House was organised and launch of school website 1999 • Sustained Achievement Award for Uniformed Groups( 1st award)
• Inter-disciplinary Project Work was introduced to Secondary 2
2000 • 20th Anniversary celebrations
• Strategic Goals were re-crafted with emphasis on Character Education, Mathematics, Science and Technology, Aesthetics, Innovation and Entrepreneurship
• Piloted the School Excellence Model appraisal tool 2001 • School was made a Centre of Learning for Mathematics and Singapore Mathematics Festival project meetings, Mathematical
Olympiad, and Mathematics Enhancement Programme were held annually 2003 • Parent-Support Group was formed 2004 • Sustained Achievement Award for Physical Education( 1st award) 2005 • Singapore Quality Class Award 2006 • School accorded niche status in Uniformed Groups and consequent DSA status
• Lee Kuan Yew All-Round Excellence Award was accorded to Tan Yan Lin for her academic, CCA and community contributions
• The first Student Council investiture was held as the school transited from Prefectorial Board to Student Council
• Launch of school-wide ASPIRE Level Camps
2007 • Highly Effective Youths( HEY) programme was introduced to Secondary Three students
• Annual Sports Carnival and Aesthetics Camp were initiated
• Character Development and National Education Awards
• School Distinction Award 2008 • Total Well-Being Framework was drawn up
• Organiser of Mathematical Olympiad
• Introduction of C2015 Outcomes and SEL Competencies
2009 • Winner of Inaugural Lee Hsien Loong Award for Innovations in the Normal Course
• CCE framework on THINK-FEEL-ACT was formulated
• Introduction of Global Watch Programme for all students as part of National Education
• Introduction of school musical to nurture an appreciation of drama and the arts
• First-ever musical: To Kill a Mockingbird was staged
