Course Name: Marketing & Entrepreneurship Type of Course: Elective Course Available to: 10th- 12th grade Prerequisites: Marketing Principles( 74 %+)
Description: This is the second course in the Marketing and Management Pathway. This course begins an in-depth and detailed study of marketing while also focusing on management with a specific emphasis on small business ownership. This course builds on the theories learned in Marketing Principles by providing practice application scenarios which test these theories. In addition, Marketing and Entrepreneurship focuses on the role of the supervisor and examines the qualities needed to be successful.
Course Name: Marketing Management Type of Course: Elective Course
Available to: 11th and 12th grade
Prerequisites: Marketing & Entrepreneurship( 80 %+)
Description: This is the third course in the Marketing and Management Pathway. This course allows students to assume a managerial perspective by applying economics principles in marketing, analyzing operations’ needs, examining channel management and financial alternatives, managing marketing information, pricing products and services, developing product / service planning strategies, promoting products and services, purchasing, and professional sales. This course also includes a global marketing where students analyse marketing strategies employed in the United States versus those employed in other countries. Topical units include: Marketing Information Management, Selling, Publicity / Public Relations, Sales Promotion, Management of Promotion, Product Mix, Pricing, Positioning, and Marketing Planning. To apply marketing skills, students will be able to earn work experience by helping run the Spartan Spot during our lunch block( 3rd). Students who successfully complete this should be prepared to take an End of Pathway Assessment( EOPA) to be able to earn an industry-recognized credential.
Course Name: Marketing Research( WBL in School Store) Type of Course: Elective Course
Available to: 11th and 12th grade
Prerequisites: Marketing Management( 85 %+) AND Teacher Recommendation
Description: This is the fourth course in the Marketing and Management Pathway. This course provides students with the opportunity to gain an understanding of marketing research and the role it plays in the field of marketing. By using primary and secondary research, the students will learn the value of knowing the customer and be able to identify a viable target market. To apply marketing skills, students will be able to earn work experience by helping run the Spartan Spot during our lunch block( 3rd). * Students must be a pathway completer in order take this course.
