Course Name: Basic Agricultural Science Type of Course: Elective Course Available to: 9th- 11th grade
Prerequisites: None
Description: This course is designed as the foundational course for all Agricultural Pathways. The course introduces the major areas of scientific agricultural production and research; presents problem solving lessons and introductory skills and knowledge in agricultural science and agri-related technologies. Classroom and laboratory activities are supplemented through supervised agricultural experiences and leadership programs and activities.
Course Name: General Horticulture and Plant Science Type of Course: Elective Course Available to: 10th- 12th grade
Prerequisites: Basic Agricultural Science( 74 %+)
Description: This is the second course in the Plant and Landscape Systems and Horticulture and Animal Science Pathways. The course introduces the major concepts of plant and horticulture science. Students will learn how to plant, water, fertilize and propagate vegetables, flowers, and other plants. Hands-on activities in the greenhouse and on-campus will prepare students with basic skills and knowledge to be used at home and on the job. Classroom and laboratory activities are supplemented through supervised agricultural experiences and leadership programs and activities.
