Course Name: AP European History Type of Course: Elective Course
Available to: 11th and 12th grade( Magnet 9th-10th grade)
Prerequisites: Prerequisite: 90 %+ in H. World History or H. US History OR 85 %+ in AP World History or AP US History
Description: This course is an introductory college-level European history course. Students cultivate their understanding of European history through analyzing historical sources and learning to make connections and craft historical arguments as they explore concepts like the interaction of Europe and the world; economic and commercial developments, cultural and intellectual developments, states and other institutions of power; social organization and development, national and European identity, and technological and scientific innovation. The course will involve extensive readings, independent study, and frequent written / document analysis to prepare students for the AP European History Exam. Students earn an additional 1.0 quality point towards their GPA for this course.

Description: This course is an introductory college-level psychology course. Students cultivate their understanding of the systematic and scientific study of human behavior and mental processes through inquiry-based investigations as they explore concepts like the biological bases of behavior, sensation and perception, learning and cognition, motivation, developmental psychology, testing and individual differences, treatment of abnormal behavior, and social psychology. The course will involve extensive readings, independent study, and frequent written / document analysis to prepare students for the AP Psychology Exam. Students earn an additional 1.0 quality point towards their GPA for this course.
Course Name: AP African American Studies Type of Course: Elective Course
Available to: 11th and 12th grade
Prerequisites: 95 %+ in H. World History or H. US History OR 85 %+ in AP World History or AP US History
Description: This course is an interdisciplinary course that examines the diversity of African American experiences through direct encounters with rich and varied sources. Students explore key topics that extend from early African kingdoms to the ongoing challenges and achievements of the contemporary moment. The course will involve extensive readings, independent study, frequent written / document analysis, and submission of an individual project to the College Board to prepare students for the AP African American Studies Exam. Students earn an additional 1.0 quality point towards their GPA for this course.
Course Name: AP Comparative Government and Politics Type of Course: Elective Course Available to: 11th and 12th grade
Prerequisites: AP US History OR AP World History( 85 %+); 90 %+( Honors)
Description: This course introduces students to the rich diversity of political life outside the United States. The course uses a comparative approach to example the political structures; policies; and political, ecoomics, and social challenges of six selected countries: China, Iran, Mexico, Nigeria, Russia, and the United Kingdom. The course will involve extensive readings, independent study, and frequent written / document analysis to prepare students for the AP Comparative Government Exam. Students earn an additional 1.0 quality point towards their GPA for this course.
