Course Name: AP Seminar / ELA Type of Course: Elective Course Available to: 11th grade Prerequisites: None( Prefered to have taken AP Language / Composition)
Description: This is the foundational course in the AP Capstone Diploma program that teaches students to investigate real-world and academic topics through cross-curricular inquiry. Students develop critical skills in research, analysis, and argumentation by evaluating multiple sources, synthesizing information, and creating evidence-based arguments. The course involves a mix of independent and team-based work, including a team project and presentation and an end-of-course exam. The course will prepare students to complete all components of the Digital Portfolio( no exam is taken in May). Students earn an additional 1.0 quality point towards their GPA for this course. ** Only offered IF enough student interest.

Prerequisites: Full completion of AP Seminar( take AP exam and complete all portfolio components)
Description: This is the second and final course in the AP Capstone Diploma program that is an interdisciplinary course that allows students to deeply explore an academic topic, problem, issue, or idea of individual interest. Students will design, plan, and implement a yearlong investigation to address a research question. Through this inquiry, they further the skills they acquired in the AP Seminar course by learning research methodology, employing ethical research practices, and accessing, analyzing, and synthesizing information. Students reflect on their skill development, document their processes, and curate the artifacts of their scholarly work through a process and reflection portfolio. The course culminates in an academic paper of 4,000 – 5,000 words( accompanied by a performance, exhibit, or product where applicable) and a presentation with an oral defense. The course will prepare students to complete all components of the Digital Portfolio( no exam is taken in May). Students earn an additional 1.0 quality point towards their GPA for this course. ** Only offered IF enough student interest.
