Course Name: AP Spanish Literature & Culture Type of Course: Elective Course
Available to: 12th grade
Prerequisites: H. Spanish IV( 80 %+)
Description: This course is equivalent to an intermediate level college course in Spanish. Students cultivate their understanding of Spanish language and culture by applying interpersonal, interpretive, and presentational modes of communication in real-life situations as they explore concepts related to family and communities, personal and public identities, beauty and aesthetics, science and technology, contemporary life, and global challenges. This course will involve extensive readings, independent study, and frequent written / document analysis to prepare students for the AP Spanish Language and Culture Exam. By earning a 4 or 5 on the AP exam, students will earn a Biliteracy seal on their diploma. Students earn an additional 1.0 quality point towards their GPA for this course.
Course Name: Pre-IB Spanish I, II, III Type of Course: Elective Course Available to: 9th and 10th grade( IB)
Prerequisites: Must be in IB Program
Description: This course develops students’ oral and written language proficiency with a strong emphasis on oral communication in preparation for the IB Internal Assessment, Paper 1, and Paper 2. Across these courses, students build and strengthen interpersonal communication skills while expanding and deepening their understanding of the cultures of the Spanish-speaking world. Students earn an additional 0.5 quality point towards their GPA for this course.
Course Name: IB Spanish B SL Type of Course: Elective Course Available to: 11th- 12th grade( IB)
Prerequisites: Must be in IB Program
Description: Language B is an IB language acquisition course for IB Diploma students aimed at strengthening their communication skills and intercultural understanding. Students develop proficiency through the study of language, texts, and five prescribed themes: identities, experiences, human ingenuity, social organization, and sharing the planet. Exam Required. This course is only for students in the IB program. Students earn an additional 1.0 quality point towards their GPA for this course.

Available to: 11th- 12th grade( IB)
Prerequisites: Must be in IB Program
Description: An optional extension of IB Spanish B SL. NO Exam Required. This course is only for students in the IB program. Students earn an additional 1.0 quality point towards their GPA for this course.
