COLLIER'S RESERVE COUNTRY CLUB

30

The center piece of the community was Collier's Reserve Country Club. This private club was established as a private equity membership club in 1993. It featured a club house, 4 tennis courts, a Boathouse for riverside casual dining and the Arthur Hills designed 18-hole golf course. Only 300 full Golf Memberships were offered. 150 Sports/Social Memberships were also available. Initially, the club had a Founding Board of Governors promoting membership for the club. Prospects for this board were chosen by identifying a representative cross-section of community leaders, who were then invited to become a part of Collier's Reserve Country Club Founding Board. Homesite buyers were also invited. Upon acceptance, all members of the founding board of governors, joined the club as equity members. The Founding Board of Governors was charged with authorizing the membership invitation list, by initially and continually providing names of prospective members. In their role as member liaison they provided information and feedback to club management helping to define facilities, services and activities best suited to club members.

Arthur Hills built the course in 1993 on previously 70-90 acres of vacant land. With approximately 450 untouched acres, a naturally scenic river, pine uplands and a large expanse of coastal wetlands, Collier's Reserve provided Arthur Hills a varied backdrop for a design like few in the world. Experience throughout Florida allowed Hills to understand how to take advantage of these natural assets. Each hole was designed to be self-contained. In the spring of 1993, Tim Hiers joined Collier's Reserve as the first

golf course manager. He worked closely with Arthur Hills and the course construction management to assist in designing a course that is environmentally sensitive mut manageable. Tim Hiers had a background in plant management.
