SYMPHONY IN THE CITY
INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATIONS
SUMMERFEST
BSO Music Director Jonathon Heyward conducted his first Symphony in the City performance on June 7 at Fort McHenry National Monument and Historic Shrine . The BSO was joined by special guests , including Baltimore ’ s own Wordsmith . The free performance was dedicated to the lives lost , the bravery of first responders , and the resilience of the Baltimore community during the Key Bridge tragedy , and raised $ 15,000 in support of The Maryland Tough Baltimore Strong Key Bridge Fund at the Baltimore Community Foundation .
The BSO performed two patriotic Independence Day concerts featuring fun , fanfare , and fireworks . On July 3 , the BSO returned to Oregon Ridge , a favorite annual tradition . On July 4 , the Orchestra repeated the program at Baltimore ' s Rash Field in the heart of the iconic Inner Harbor .
STAR-SPANGLED SPECTACULAR PRESENTING SPONSOR
The BSO launched Baltimore ’ s new favorite summer tradition , SummerFest at the Meyerhoff . In the style of a summer block party , the six-part series transformed the Meyerhoff into a relaxed and fun atmosphere , partnering with Black Arts District and curating summer games and activities before the main on-stage attraction .
