RICKERRA BASSETT
Graduating senior Rickerra Bassett is about to start a new journey pursuing a music degree at college ! Rickerra ’ s music journey started in kindergarten in an OrchKids musicianship classroom in West Baltimore . A few years later , she picked up the viola and has since then become the viola ’ s number one recruiter . Rickerra ’ s love for music grew when she attended summer music festivals through OrchKids including Interlochen , where she flew on a plane for the first time , and the LA Philarharmonic ’ s YOLA National Festival , her personal favorite . In addition to summer music festivals , Rickerra has recently discovered an enthusiasm for teaching , inspired by her teachers at OrchKids . She said , “ Seeing them help me and want what ’ s best for me , I want to be that for younger students . I really do like seeing younger kids start to grow and realize this is really something they want to do .”
Rickerra was accepted to all of the schools she applied to including University of Maryland , West Virginia University , Towson University , George Mason University , and University of Maryland , Baltimore , and received multiple scholarships . We are thrilled for Rickerra and cannot wait to see which college she chooses !

SUMMER CONCERT AT GOUCHER COLLEGE
Join us at Goucher College on July 26 at 1:30 pm for the closing concert of our three-week summer program . The summer program is an exciting time for students to spend time with students from other OrchKids sites , curb summer learning loss , and continue progressing on their instrument on a college campus . Daily rehearsals and sectionals prepare students for the exciting finale of the summer program which is sure to amaze !
