s you have probably heard by now , in February , we shared some exciting news — the unveiling of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra ’ s 202₄ – 2₅ Season , “ Music that Resonates .” It ’ s set to be a season of ambitious programming inspired by the unique interests of audiences in Baltimore , North Bethesda , and the State of Maryland . In addition to all-star talent , never-before-heard world premieres , and exciting community partnerships , the season ahead promises music that electrifies , fascinates , soothes , transcends , and delights .

For the first time in nearly a decade , the world-renowned cellist and national treasure , Yo-Yo Ma , will return to the BSO for the season-opening Gala Celebrations alongside Music Director Jonathon Heyward . “ This will be my first time working with him professionally , and I am so excited ,” Heyward says . “ The first time I met him , I was a young cellist — I still have my music book he signed .” Tickets for Yo-Yo Ma Joins Heyward are currently available as an add-on for 2024 – 25 Season subscribers , or through VIP sponsorship sales ( available to the public ).
Guest talent is in no shortage next season , featuring world-renowned performers like Angel Blue , James Enhes , Yefim Bronfman , Karen Gomyo , Augustin Hadelich , Joshua Roman , and Gil Shaham , as well as such eminent conductors as BSO Music Director Laureate Marin Alsop , Nicholas McGegan , Eva Ollikainen , and many more . Highlighting the incredible wealth of talent here at home , the season also
promises three solo performances by BSO musicians : Principal Bassoon Harrison Miller , Principal Tuba Aubrey Foard , and Concertmaster Jonathan Carney .
Then , of course , there is the repertoire itself . If there is one word Jonathon Heyward likes to use when describing his programming , it ’ s “ intentional ,” an ideal guided by his conviction that symphonic music is for everyone . The result is a season more inspired , relevant , and varied than ever before . Concertgoers can look forward to innovative programs that celebrate the convergence of classical and jazz , elevate music as a spiritual experience , and spotlight music ’ s power for storytelling .
“ I have always been fascinated by music ’ s ability to convey narrative and drama ,” Heyward says . And , like any true artist , he has translated that into action . “ I am excited to announce the start of an ambitious , multi-year project intended to bring opera to both our homes at the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall and The Music
