Project Focus The project focus areas listed below highlight the three community health priority areas identified in Renown’ s CHNA, as well as the strategies identified for each priority. Grantees will need to select one to three areas( one area at minimum, three areas at maximum) that their programming will address.
PRIORITY AREA # 1: Mental Health
• STRATEGY 1.1: Foster Positive Childhood Experiences( PCEs) o Develop supportive environments and resilience-building programs for children and families.
• STRATEGY 1.2: Provide High-Quality, Trauma-Informed Care o Provide trauma-informed practices to ensure compassionate, sensitive care for trauma survivors.
• STRATEGY 1.3: Improve Mental Health Outcomes with a Focus on Suicide Prevention o Implement targeted programs in schools, workplaces, and community centers that include mental health screenings, education on suicide prevention, and anti-stigma campaigns.
• STRATEGY 1.4: Enhance Substance Abuse Interventions o Address the dual impact of mental health and substance abuse by increasing access to integrated treatment programs for individuals with co-occurring disorders.
• STRATEGY 1.5: Increase Access to High-Quality Mental Health Services for Underserved Communities o Expand high-quality, culturally competent mental health services and supports to underserved populations.
PRIORITY AREA # 2: Access to Healthcare and Community Services
• STRATEGY 2.1: Peer Support o Peer support programs for community members who suffer from chronic disease, community members that have critical illness, and vulnerable / underserved populations.
• STRATEGY 2.2: Community safety-net programming o Promote safety-net programs that offer essential services( eg. access to Medicaid, financial assistance policies, prescription assistance programs, transportation, vaccinations, STI testing, etc.) to vulnerable populations.
• STRATEGY 2.3: Data Streamlining o Enhance data sharing to better identify and address healthcare gaps in underserved communities.
• STRATEGY 2.4: Rural Access o Collaborating with other healthcare providers, local organizations, and community leaders within rural Nevada to improve access to care, increase health outcomes, and support sustainability in these regions.
• STRATEGY 2.5: Strengthen Nonprofit Collaboration & Outreach with Focus on Kids o Build strong partnerships among nonprofits to improve service coordination and resource sharing. Boost community engagement efforts to raise awareness of available healthcare and support services. Boost children ' s health insurance enrollment by raising awareness, partnering with schools and other healthcare providers, and offering support through local organizations.
PRIORITY AREA # 3: Maternal and Child Health
• STRATEGY 3.1: Reduce Substance Use in Pregnant Women o Implement programs for substance use reduction before, during, and after pregnancy through education, screening, and intervention.
• STRATEGY 3.2: Increase Prenatal Care Access and Adherence o Emphasize accessible prenatal care and foster adherence by encouraging early and consistent care starting at 14 weeks.
• STRATEGY 3.3: Strengthen Child Safety and Reduce Trauma o Prioritize child safety initiatives to prevent abuse, trauma, and substance exposure and improve care coordination.
• STRATEGY 3.4: Reduce Syphilis Incidents o Include targeted prevention, screening, and treatment to reduce maternal and congenital syphilis rates, aligning with state and county priorities.
