whole offense. But as Wynne shows time and time again, we deal very well with adversity, and I feel like we have the backbone of the offense learned and now are putting in plays that are specific to the teams we play.
6. It is my understanding that your dad was a part of one of the state title teams. What are those stories like listening to the successes that he had and how important is it for you to be apart of a successful Yellowjackets football team? I feel like this puts an expectation on me from him and everyone that is involved around him. He and my Uncle both started on a team that will go down in history as a very talented team with a legendary coach. So, I feel like I don ' t have a choice but to give it my all and try to the best of my ability.
7. Who are some of your other teammates that you expect to have a big season to help you guys win? On the offense, I’ ll start with Ashton McDaniel, Devonte Duckett, and Austin Banks. Ashton McDaniel is our QB, and honestly, you ' ll be hard-pressed to find something he can’ t do. Devonte Duckett is our RAC receiver; that man will not go down on the first tackle. Austin Banks is our anchor on the offensive line next to John Mills; he has some grit and some attributes you can’ t coach. On defense, I expect Noah Steward, Makel Ward, and Carson Stovall.
8. If you had to pick three key games on your schedule which ones might they be and why? I would pick Marion, Valley View, and the first game of the playoffs. Marion and us have a rich history, and it is going to be an awesome game this year. With Valley View, we also have a shorter but intense history. We have a rivalry that is unmatched and sometimes gets heated. The first game of the playoffs, obviously, you can’ t be great and lose the first game of the playoffs.
9. Wynne was hit hard by that awful tornado. Your school took terrible damage and because of that you guys have had a tough go of things. What has that taught you about life and perseverance? How can you use that to translate to success on the gridiron? I feel like it taught me to never give up because there will always be a way to get through things. We had teammates transfer, no field to practice on, and a new offense to learn. But Wynne will always be here to win. I can translate this by always having a reminder that adversity is temporary.
10. With that said your school has built back some nice facilities including renovations to the football program. You may not get to play before it’ s all finished but how important is that for you as a student and resident of Wynne, Arkansas? We got a brand-new weight room, locker room, and a very nice football field. This reminds me that the community will always be behind us and the promise that the football program will be here like we have been in the history of Wynne. We also are getting an indoor football field, new bleachers on the football field, and a brand-new school. This will obviously interest kids from out of town to come be a Yellowjacket.
