Nonprofits: A Community of Generosity
While some of their work is done quietly, Eden Prairie is home to several nonprofit organizations dedicated to supporting local households. Whenever community support is needed, the generosity of the city’ s residents is evident through robust participation in nonprofit events and volunteer opportunities throughout the year.
Some of the largest nonprofits based in Eden Prairie include PROP( People Reaching Out to People), the PROP Shop, the Eden Prairie Community Foundation and the Foundation for Eden Prairie Schools.
PROP serves as Eden Prairie’ s largest food shelf. In 2025, PROP provided critical housing support to over 100 households in an effort to prevent homelessness. The organization’ s primary function is to tackle both short-term food emergencies and the underlying reasons for food insecurity.
The PROP Shop is a donation center and resale store for clothes, household items, books and furniture that serves hundreds of local families annually through its Family Services program. The shop relies on a staff of more than 450 enthusiastic and helpful volunteers to provide local families with free clothing, household goods and furniture.
The Eden Prairie Community Foundation’ s mission is to enrich the community through philanthropy, collaboration and leadership. To do this, the foundation identifies ongoing
20 | EDEN PRAIRIE COMMUNITY GUIDE | 2026 needs within the city and partners with nonprofits, donors and residents to meet those needs. Since its founding in 1981, the foundation has awarded more than $ 2.1 million in grants.
The Foundation for Eden Prairie Schools is a close partner with the local school district. Formed in 1998, the foundation has awarded more than $ 1 million to fund innovative programs impacting students. Through this funding, the foundation boosts student learning opportunities, invests in student needs and honors academic achievements.
