Secondary Data: Methodology
Secondary data for the 2026 CHNA were compiled from more than 60 authoritative data sources covering demographic, health status, quality of life, behavioral, environmental, and clinical indicators across Washoe County, Nevada, and the United States. Data sources included the Nevada Tomorrow platform, Claritas Pop-Facts( 2025 population estimates), the American Community Survey( 2019 – 2023), the Nevada Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System( BRFSS), the Nevada Youth Risk Behavior Survey( YRBS), the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the County Health Rankings, among others.
All demographic data are sourced from Claritas Pop-Facts( 2025 population estimates) for ZIP code, county, and state estimates and American Community Survey for U. S. estimates. Data were collected and compiled across 27 ZIP code tabulation areas( ZCTAs) within Washoe County to enable geographically granular analysis of health disparities.
Secondary Data: Scoring
Secondary data indicators were organized into topic areas and scored using standardized rubric developed by Conduent HCI. Each indicator was evaluated on up to five dimensions: comparison to state averages, comparison to national averages, comparison to Healthy People 2030 targets( where available), comparison to Nevada county benchmarks, and trend direction over time. Scores ranged from 0 to 3, with higher scores indicating greater need relative to comparators.
