Primary Data: Community Health Survey
A community health survey was administered in October 2025 to adults residing in Washoe County, yielding 694 completed responses. The survey was distributed through electronic channels and community partner networks and was available in both English and Spanish. The survey captured self-reported health status, health behaviors, access to care, and perceived community health priorities.
Strengths of the survey approach include its large sample size and broad reach, which allows for quantifiable identification of community health trends. Survey responses were selfreported from a convenience sample, which may be subject to response biases, and may not fully capture all perspectives across Washoe County population. However, we mitigate these data limitations by comparing and synthesizing findings with other primary and secondary data sources to develop a more comprehensive understanding of the county’ s health needs.
Key findings from the survey offer insight into the community’ s perceived health priorities.
In addition to the above healthcare challenges, survey respondents also identified community assets, including outdoor recreational access, cultural diversity, mutual aid networks, and strong cross-sector collaboration. These are strengths that the health system can leverage to support community health improvement over the 2026 – 2029 planning cycle.
