BARHII Framework: Community-Centric with a Health Equity Lens
This CHNA employs the Bay Area Regional Health Inequities Initiative( BARHII) Framework to ensure that health equity and social determinants of health are centered throughout the assessment process. The BARHII Framework recognizes that health outcomes are not shaped by healthcare access alone, but by the underlying social, economic, and environmental conditions in which people are born, grow, live, work, and age.
Utilizing this framework, the CHNA systematically investigates health inequities across dimensions such as race, ethnicity, income, geography, and other social factors, placing emphasis on findings that identify underlying causes of health disparities rather than merely their symptoms. This methodology informs both community data analysis and the formulation of recommendations with a focus on equity.
