management and major courses in order for the course to count toward completion of the program. The minimum major GPA is 2.0 and minimum cumulative GPA is 2.0. Credit Requirements: A minimum of 120 credits is required for the bachelor’ s degree.
Academic Progress, Probation, and Program Dismissal: Students must successfully complete all required courses in the program. A student who fails a required course may repeat the course once. If a student fails the same required course twice, the student may be dismissed from the program. All other academic progress and probation policies follow University guidelines.
Attendance: Regular class attendance is necessary for the attainment of satisfactory performance in university work and is the responsibility of each student. Requirements for class attendance within any course are at the discretion of the faculty member responsible for the course. Attendance is always required on the first day of each course.

Experiential Learning: Students are required to complete an internship that allows them to apply classroom learning in a professional setting. Through the internship experience, students observe professionals in their field, practice their skills under the supervision of experienced mentors, build professional networks, and gain valuable industry experience. Students should consult with their academic advisor before registering for the internship. Students are responsible for their own transportation to and from off-campus experiential learning opportunities.

Program Description: The Biology program at Gwynedd Mercy University is an integrated course of study with a strong emphasis on molecular and cellular biology, genetics, and biochemistry. GMercyU’ s biology students gain a broad foundation in the physical sciences, with required coursework in chemistry, physics, and mathematics. Students who graduate from the program automatically earn a minor in chemistry with their degree. The program provides training in modern laboratory skills, utilizing current technology that is applicable to research in a graduate program and in demand by biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies. All students in the biology program must complete a research experience, providing practical, hands-on experiential training that is critical for future employment or graduate studies.
