Program Description: With GMercyU ' s accredited Accounting Program, you will gain a solid background in accounting principles, taxation, auditing, finance, and business theory. If you want to build a career as a Certified Public Accountant( CPA) or put your accounting expertise to work in the business world, consider our bachelor’ s in accounting and our accelerated 4 + 1 MBA option.
Students interested in pursuing CPA licensure can complete the 150 credit hours typically required for the CPA exam by adding the MBA + 1 year, allowing them to earn both their bachelor’ s degree and MBA in an accelerated format.
Whatever your career goals, our program and dedicated faculty will help you achieve them. In fact, in 2018, GMercyU ' s high CPA exam pass rate ranked the program 16th in the nation for similar sized accounting schools, according to the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy. Students should meet with their advisor in their junior year to discuss and apply to the 4 + 1 MBA program.
Program Student Learning Outcomes: PLO1 Students will analyze and apply accounting information to support business decision-making. PLO2 Students will prepare, interpret, and analyze financial statements in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles( GAAP). PLO3 Students will apply cost and managerial accounting concepts to evaluate organizational performance and support strategic planning. PLO4 Students will demonstrate knowledge of taxation principles, including preparation of tax returns and basic tax planning strategies. PLO5 Students will evaluate internal controls, auditing concepts, and financial data to assess organizational effectiveness and risk.
