This course will consist of an exploration of pandemics, epidemics, and plagues throughout history from the | ||||
ancient period to modern times. The course will explore six human infectious diseases( Smallpox, Plague, | ||||
Influenza, Yellow Fever, Cholera, and Coronaviruses) that have led to multiple outbreaks throughout history to | ||||
determine how biology, society, culture, economics, and religious beliefs have impacted these outbreaks. The | ||||
course will draw heavily on reading, case studies, discussion, and writing. NB: fulfills both Gen. Ed. Sci Elective | ||||
and Bio Elective( the latter for whom this course may be a major requirement). |

This Honors seminar will investigate the human condition by observing humanity at its most critical time: when | ||||
the judgments characters must make radically alter their lives and the lives of those whom they love, or those for | ||||
whom they are responsible. In many instances these judgments result in death. Additional historical, | ||||
philosophical, scientific or sociological background material will be presented to contextualize and clarify various | ||||
aspects of the plays. It may be taken for English credit. It may be used to fulfill a General Education requirement | ||||
or an Honors Program requirement under " Music "( sometimes called " Arts "). |
