has relevance to all majors at Gwynedd Mercy University by exploring how social determinants of health such as education, income, environment, policy, and community systems shape health, access to opportunity, and quality of life. Students with any university major other than public health may earn a minor in public health by completing six courses( 18 credits): PUB 100 Introduction to Public Health, PUB 200 Health Behavior and Health Education, PUB 310 Introduction to Epidemiology, and three PUB electives. Students must complete any prerequisites for the required and elective courses.
Academic Standards / Grade Requirements: A grade of C or higher is required in each of the courses required for the minor.
Academic Progress,( Probation), and Program Dismissal: A student may achieve less than a“ C” grade in only two courses for the minor and they may repeat these courses only once. If a student, regardless of their cumulative grade point average, achieves less than a“ C” grade on a third course for the minor or fails to bring all grades up to a“ C” with one repeat, they may be dismissed from the program.

Program Description: The religious studies minor offers an 18-credit concentration in the academic study of religion, focusing on distinctive, often multidisciplinary, or interdisciplinary, approaches to the study of religion, thereby strengthening students’ interpretive and critical thinking skills. Coursework in the study of religion facilitates students’ recognition of diversity within and across traditions and helps students to identify and interpret religion’ s impact across the globe, underscored by an orientation to the Mercy“ critical concerns.”

Academic Progress, Probation and Program Dismissal: Maintenance of 2.5 GPA; probationary periods and program dismissals are determined by the Program Director in consultation with other philosophy faculty should a student fall below the 2.5 GPA minimum.
