Internal / External Transfers: Admissions requirements for external transfer students are the same as the University. Internal transfers should contact program chair.
Academic Standards / Grade Requirements: Students must earn a grade of“ C” or higher in all required management and major courses in order for the course to count toward completion of the program. The minimum major GPA is 2.0 and minimum cumulative GPA is 2.0.
Credit Requirements: A minimum of 120 credits is required for the bachelor’ s degree.
Academic Progress, Probation, and Program Dismissal: Students must successfully complete all required courses in the program. A student who fails a required course may repeat the course once. If a student fails the same required course twice, the student may be dismissed from the program. All other academic progress and probation policies follow University guidelines.
Attendance: Regular class attendance is necessary for the attainment of satisfactory performance in university work and is the responsibility of each student. Requirements for class attendance within any course are at the discretion of the faculty member responsible for the course. Attendance is always required on the first day of each course.

Experiential Learning: Students are required to engage in an internship, which allows students to put theory into practice, observe professionals engaging their field of study, practice their skills under the supervision of seasoned professionals, network within their chosen field, and gain valuable experience. Students should consult with their academic advisor before they plan to register for the internship. Students are responsible for their own transportation to and from off campus experiential learning opportunities.

Program Description: The history degree supports students’ search for truth through excellence in teaching and scholarly research to develop knowledge, technological competence, and aesthetic and ethical values for success in a global society. The program provides history majors with an educational foundation that prepares them for careers in law, government, industry, and other public and private sectors. This program offers a 4 + 1 teacher certification option. Students who are considering that option should consult with the program director.
Program Student Learning Outcomes: PLO1 Effectively read, reflect upon, and respond appropriately to historical information. PLO2 Ask pertinent questions about the human past that lead to solving current human problems. PLO3 Identify, evaluate, analyze, and interpret primary and secondary sources.
