On January 4, Michael was honored with the Presidential Medal of Freedom— the nation’ s highest civilian honor— in recognition of his determination, resilience and optimism on his journey to change the future for millions living with PD.

In a USA Today op-ed, Michael encouraged the government to take advantage of public-private partnership to move more swiftly toward a cure.“ Parkinson’ s is a solvable problem, but only if we act decisively and urgently,” he wrote.“ We have the knowledge and we’ ve built the tools. We stand ready to partner with the government, this time with unprecedented potential to deliver enormous payoffs for American families.”
