Parkinson’ s advocates on the steps of the Capitol during the 2025 Parkinson’ s Policy Forum. undertaking, and our advocacy is essential to its success. We’ re starting to see some progress, and MJFF will be there every step of the way to ensure the NPP fulfills its potential.
Why is a robustly funded National Institutes of Health important to our work and to the Parkinson’ s community?
A strong National Institutes of Health( NIH) will lead to new treatments for Parkinson’ s. The NIH is also a vital partner to organizations like MJFF, allowing us to pursue the most important, cutting-edge research of today. MJFF and the NIH work in tandem to advance greater understanding of Parkinson’ s biology, leading to new discoveries and better treatments. That’ s what a partnership looks like.
What progress do you hope or expect to make in 2026?
We’ re partnering with advocates and organizations to build strong momentum behind the NPP and shape future budgets at the NIH and other agencies advancing Parkinson’ s research and care. We’ ll also continue to pursue new opportunities for state-funded research and grow the size and strength of our advocate community.
In September alone, 200 advocates met with Congress on Capitol Hill during our Parkinson’ s Policy Forum, while 10,000 more sent emails on our digital National Day of Action. It may seem intimidating, but anyone can be an advocate— we’ ll meet you where you are and help you get involved.
