Paleo Trail BC & Fernie Paleo Trail continued....
Thanks to PacifiCan’ s additional support through the TGP program, Tourism Fernie ws able to include the Elko site to the self-drive tour. The site now features a larger picnic area and enhanced interpretive signage that include a glimpse into the region’ s remarkable paleontological history.
This addition makes the tour more regionally inclusive, strengthens the educational and storytelling aspects of the Paleo Trail / Dino Tour enhancing the experience, and brings further economic and cultural benefits to the area. Highlights of the Elko site include an overview sign featuring the Ichthyosaurus discovered east of Elko( replica on display at the VIC), and the area’ s geological and paleontological significance. The Elko site is also featured in the tour video, enriching the storytelling and interpretive experience.
